We went to Auschwitz by train and took a cab to the camp. Walked around and watched the movie. Very interesting. WE came back to Krakow and took a cab to the town square and had a fancy dinner for cheap and then shopped a bit and walked home to the hotel. |

Mom and I took the tram to the Wawel hill and went to the Cathedral…lot’s of walking. Then walked down the hill and took a cab to the main square. Had coffee and then took a tour in a golf cart for an hour…very interesting. Then mom and I looked around at the main square, the shops, St. Mary’s Church and St. Adalberts Church. Mom’s knee really started hurting so we walked back to the hotel through the Florian Gate and Barbican. Keith went out with an internet Acquantenace and mom and Keith just had snacks in the hotel room |

Woke up and had breakfast. Olek took us to the train station and we departed for Krakow. 7 hour train ride. Mom could barely make it to the hotel and it was a fiasco with all our luggage. We got checked in and then had dinner in the hotel restraunt. |

Today we went to the cemetery and saw the graves of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Haydn, etc. Then we went to Schrobruun Palace which is beautiful and full of history and where Mozart performed at age 6 and Marie Antoinette was born until she went to France. So much history. Of course my favorite thing is cafes and cigerettes and soaking up the local color and meeting new people. WE got home from Schronbrun and mom is getting the cold now and her knee is soar. I went shopping and to an Internet Café and then Olek took me to a play and out for coffee at the Leopold Café and talked about art, literature, politics, etc. |

we went to a village in the hills Kahlenberg and saw the Austrian Alps and the Danube River. After mom and I went to the heart of Vienna and went to St. Stephens Cathedral which was built in 1100s but destroyed partially in WWII. After we went to the Hofburg Palace where the royalty lived for centuries. Then we went to the Opera House. Physcially this trip is very hard for mom...so I am very grateful to have this opportunity to travel Europe with her. She said this morning it will probably be her first and last time doing this. I on the other hand have a cold which always seems to happen the first few days I am here. |
